Mission
As a Quality Management System (QMS) Engineer your mission will be to lead and support quality assurance initiatives across our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining PLD Space QMS. You will also execute audits, maintain ISO certifications (including 9100 and 14001), manage quality documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards. You will drive continuous improvement, oversee quality metrics, support program stakeholders, and promote a culture of operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
· Plan, execute, and lead internal and external audits in accordance with ECSS, ISO 9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
· Drive the development and implementation of processes to achieve and maintain ISO certifications, including ISO 9100 and ISO 14001.
· Oversee quality gates, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and control mechanisms to ensure product compliance throughout the lifecycle.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for certification audits and address any gaps in compliance.
· Serve as the primary point of contact during certification and surveillance audits conducted by external bodies.
· Perform risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential quality and safety hazards.
· Manage configuration control and documentation for certifications such as ISO 9100 and ISO 14001.
· Prepare reports, guidelines, and manuals to support both internal teams and external reviews.
· Monitor and analyze quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
· Drive initiatives to foster a culture of quality and operational excellence within the organization.
· Stay updated on industry best practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensure their integration into the product assurance processes.
· Generate documentation, including user guides, guidelines and user manuals for internal customers.
· Generate documentation for formal program development reviews.
· Provide high-level and low-level feedback for MIURA 5 program development planning.
Necessary Requirements
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, with preference in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
· Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.
· Minimum of 3 years in quality assurance, preferably in the aerospace industry.
· Experience in implementation, certification and/or maintenance of a Quality Management System based in ISO 9100.
· Experience in implementation, certification and/or maintenance of an Environmental Management System based in ISO 14001.
· Strong knowledge of quality management principles, auditing processes, and regulatory compliance.
· Strong understanding of quality management principles, quality control techniques, and product assurance processes.
· Knowledge of configuration management, document control, and change management processes.
· Experience with quality management software tools and systems.
Desired Requirements
· Experience in product assurance or quality management within the aerospace industry and with ECSS standards:
o ECSS-Q-ST-10C (Space Product Assurance)
o ECSS-Q-ST-10-09 (Nonconformance Control System)
o ECSS-Q-ST-20 (Quality Assurance)
· Knowledge of launch vehicle or spacecraft manufacturing and testing processes.
· Familiarity with quality management techniques and tools, such as 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
· Experience with suppliers' management and quality control of external deliverables.
· Certification in quality management or product assurance (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Certified Quality Engineer).
