Propulsion Manufacturing Manager

Mission  

As the Propulsion Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for leading the manufacturing team that builds our Miura 5 engines.  


Responsibilities  

  • Be the engine build lead for the company 
  • Lead an exceptionally talented team of propulsion manufacturing, integration, and/or component engineers responsible for the build, integration, and in-factory testing of our engines 
  • Support, challenge, and develop through technical, performance, and mentorship 
  • Accountable for both the strategic and tactical vision for propulsion manufacturing. Develop the Manufacturing Engineering roadmap and execute on defined deliverables 
  • Define and drive a manufacturing strategy that supports a rapid design-manufacturing iteration loop and enables a quick transition to high-volume  
  • Partner with Production and Operations to productionize and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality engines to the test stand 
  • Integrate the Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, PBF/Machine Shop, and Propulsion Integration departments to establish and attack our aggressive production targets 
  • Lead design integration, manufacturing planning (BOM’s, process development, work instruction creation, etc.), and build execution/Production of all vehicle engines 
  • Partner with PBF/Prop Engineering to optimize our engine designs for manufacturing 
  • Lead process improvement plans to reduce cycle times, enable more efficient operations, and improve safety and quality on the floor 
  • Create the work centre by considering manufacturing operations, tooling and capital equipment requirements, and production rate targets 
  • Lead manufacturing development efforts and stand up new, innovative capabilities in-house 


Required Competencies  

  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering & operations, mechanical engineering, or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an operations-focused role within a high-mix, development environment 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience formally leading or managing a professional team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manufacturing, integration, test, or propulsion engineer 
  • Extensive experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel 
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing fundamentals, including but not limited to: GD&T & engineering drawings, mBOM architecting, process plans and work order development, ERP/MES development, issue ticket & resolutions, demand planning, MRP, and fulfilment 
  • Extensive knowledge of at least two of the following: PBF, machining, post-processing, assembly, integration, and functional testing 
  • Highly skilled in task management, resource allocation, and prioritization 
  • Working knowledge of rocket subsystems, including structures, fluids, and avionics 

  

Desired Competencies  

  • 3+ years leading cross-disciplinary manufacturing engineers, integration, and/or test engineers 
  • New product introduction of an aerospace hardware system into a manufacturing, test, and production system with proven success 
  • Experience with process development and first-time manufacturing efforts 
  • Experience with high-volume production 
  • Organized and able to provide structure and direction to the previously undefined 
  • Ability to define and own a process from scratch and roll out that process through adept communication to a diverse team 
  • Working knowledge of typical PLM, ERP, MES, and QMS systems 
  • Spanish and/or English fluency
