Launch Complex Project Manager

Mission 

As the Launch Complex Project Manager for the MIURA 5 launch system at the Guiana Space Centre, your mission is to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the launch complex design, construction, integration, and testing. 


Responsibilities 

  • Lead the planning, design, and construction phases of the launch complex, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to develop and implement innovative solutions for launch complex infrastructure and systems.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and government agencies involved in launch complex activities.
  • Plan the maintenance and upgrade of launch complex facilities, equipment, and support systems.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures and protocols to ensure safe and efficient launch operations.
  • Collaborate with mission control and launch operations teams to coordinate launch schedules and activities.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with launch complex operations, including environmental, safety, and security risks.
  • Interface with stakeholders, including customers, regulatory agencies, and international partners, to ensure alignment and compliance with project goals and requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates on launch complex status, performance, and milestones.
  • Generate documentation for formal program development reviews.

  • Provide high-level and low-level feedback for MIURA 5 program development planning


Required Knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, aerospace, or related field, advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering projects, preferably in the aerospace, oil&gas or space launch industry.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and techniques, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Experience with international collaboration projects and working in multicultural environments.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana as needed, and to spend extended periods there depending on the progress of the project.
  • Fluency in English and/or French languages.


Desired Competencies 

  • Understanding of launch complex, test benches or oil&gas plants design principles, construction methods, and operational requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices governing launch complex operations and safety.
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and regulations relevant to launch complex operations.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, Prince2) or relevant professional associations (e.g., AIAA, PMI).
  • Familiarity with space launch systems, including rocket propulsion, payload integration, and launch operations.
