Labview Automation Engineer - Launch complex

Mission 

As an automation engineer for Launch complex at PLD Space, your mission is to design, develop, integrate and maintain robust and efficient control systems that ensure the reliable launch of PLD space launch vehicles. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and testing automation solutions, enabling effective communication, monitoring, and control of our MIURA 5 vehicle in ground infrastructures. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Design the control systems of the launch complex in French Guiana.
  • Define requirements with CNES.
  • Design and implementation of EGSE.
  • Troubleshoot and debug automation issues, working closely with the development team and stakeholders to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Integrate ground software systems with other components of the aerospace system, such as onboard software and ground control systems.
  • Document software designs, specifications, and procedures, as well as maintain comprehensive documentation for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Adhere to software development methodologies, quality standards, and safety protocols to ensure the reliability and security of ground software systems.
  • Autonomy in the development in all the phases of complex technological projects.
  • Coordinate electrical subcontractors during the system integration.

Required Knowledge

  • Coordinate electrical subcontractors during the system integration. 
  • Bachelor's degree in automation, electronics, telecommunication engineering or a related field. 
  • > 3 years of relevant technical experience. 
  • Complete system vision. 
  • Knowledge of ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standardization). 
  • Deep knowledge of NI LabVIEW programming and efficient LabVIEW real-time architectures. 
  • Knowledge of synchronizing technique between different nodes. 
  • Experience programming deterministic real-time applications on PXI platforms focused on reliability and efficiency. 
  • Knowledge of critical software systems and safety. 
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols: etherCAT, CAN / CANopen, EtherNet/IP, TSN and RS232. 
  • Knowledge of electronic instrumentation and control. 
  • Knowledge of validation and verification processes. 
  • Experience using RF communication.

Desired Knowledge

  • Understanding of fluid systems and thermodynamics concepts. 
  • Familiar with static code analysis, unit testing and continuous integration tools. 
  • Experience with HIL test systems.
  • National Instruments official certifications.

Desired Competencies

  • Experience in ground software development and operation for the aerospace industry. 
  • Experience with mission control systems, satellite operations, or flight operations software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to aerospace projects.  
  • English and/or French B2-C1.
