Mission
As the Industrial Safety Engineer, your mission will be responsible for the Safety programs within our fast-paced work environment. This will include the coordination of overall health and safety for the assembly of the launch site and its integration of our launch vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Drive daily operations and ensure all our requirements are met in keeping with the company's objectives and attention to the safety and welfare of our employees and the environment.
- Develop initiatives that will reduce risk in the workplace.
- Develops manufacturing operating plans in accordance with company values, ethics, policies, goals and objectives. Assessing process capability, improving process control, and instilling a culture of accountability will be a primary goal for this position.
- Focus on quality issues by identifying problems in the manufacturing flow, research and analyze potential alternatives that utilize Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing concepts, and effectively implement solutions.
- Increase productivity through measurement of operational metrics by leveraging daily interaction with Production Managers, Production Shift Supervisors and hourly employees.
- Consistently track and trend operational results and developing necessary action plans to address gaps, while constantly focusing on planning for the future state of the facility.
- Understanding the capability of the current equipment; research options for new equipment that can be purchased utilizing capital expenditures; and evaluate existing equipment for potential upgrade keeping consistency and standardization at the forefront.
- Implement and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Must contribute to the achievement of the manufacturing revenue plan by managing operating costs, labor/material costs, and productivity. This includes the development of annual operating budgets, cost reduction strategies and efficiency improvements to support the financial goals of the organization.
- Operate in a fast-paced setting with ever-changing and multiple priorities while developing the highest standards of culture, safety, quality, cost, and service.
- Effectively communicate initiatives and foster an environment of collaboration and cooperation with all stakeholders; Customers, BU Leadership, Plant Leadership, salaried and hourly employees.
- People leadership: This leader will have a strong track record as a people manager in the areas of team leadership and building organizational capabilities. The successful candidate will have built high performance and achievement-oriented teams that have delivered success. He/she will spend significant time with employees in the field and will routinely solicit ideas, suggestions and help in order to arrive at a better solution while reinforcing the value of the team. The individual will empower people and groups to take risks while measuring performance and holding them accountable for results.
- Comfort in front of customers: The ability to lead tours and converse with customers at a high level will be a major component of the position.

- Health and Safety certified
Necessary Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of experience in the design, development, and general operational oversight of Health and Safety disciplines.
- 1+ years of Health and Safety management experience.
Desired Requirements
- Experience working in aerospace industry.
- Experience leading a team of Health and Safety technicians.
- Experience implementing an occupational safety program, including processes, programs and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety, environmental engineering or system safety engineering.
