Avionics Test Engineer

Parque Industrial de Elche (Poligono Industrial), Spain

About PLD:

PLD Space is an international space services company with in-house engineering and manufacturing. It is dedicated to transporting satellites and humans into space, vertically integrating engineering, testing, manufacturing and operations of its reusable and sustainable rockets. Headquartered in Elche (Spain) and founded in 2011 by Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, PLD Space has established itself as a global benchmark in the space launcher sector. Its MIURA family of launchers and its LINCE manned capsule position the company as a leader in European technological sovereignty in space transportation, covering the full range of space missions.

With a team of more than 280 employees and 170 million in total funding, PLD Space also has the largest private test benches in Europe, located in Teruel (Spain), and operates two launch bases: El Arenosillo, in Huelva (Spain); and the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), in Kourou (French Guiana). In total, it has more than 188,000m2 of industrial infrastructures under management.

  • Read, interpret, and analyze technical and operational documentation of EGSE, test beds, avionics equipment and its test procedures.
  • Execute qualification and acceptance unit test campaigns scheduled for avionics equipment, including both functional and environmental testing.
  • Execute inspection and functional checks of commercial-off-the-self avionics equipment after its reception and correlate results with reports delivered by suppliers.
  • Execute design verification testing (functional) of new-design avionics components developed in-house.
  • Execute functional checks and inspections of avionics equipment throughout its different assembly and integration processes (FAI – First Article Inspection methodology) at different levels (unit, major assemblies and launch vehicle).
  • Participate as Avionics focal point in the execution of test campaigns of major assemblies containing avionics equipment (turbo-pumps, vehicle engines, valves, tanks, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Production and AIT team to prepare materials and configure EGSE and test setups to support the different testing activities.
  • Analyze, interpret and perform post-processing of the test results obtained, notifying unexpected results to the AIT and Design team if needed.
  • Perform troubleshooting of avionics equipment.
  • Generate and release on schedule engineering documentation such as Test Reports, Inspection Reports, and Non-Conformance Reports.
