Mission  

As an Avionics Test Engineer of the Avionics Team, you will be responsible for all aspects of avionics verification and validation activities, as well as the design and development of the Ground Support Equipment and test facilities. 


Responsibilities 

  • Develop test plans and procedures in support of space flight hardware and systems development. 
  • Design and develop HW/SW for Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), test benches and facilities for the validation of the avionics at component, subsystem, and system level. 
  • Develop automated test hardware and test platforms in support of test programs. 
  • Prepare test configurations for functional testing of equipment at subsystem and system level. 
  • Prepare and perform pre-delivery test of avionics components and assemblies and perform final configuration adjustments. 
  • Perform receiving inspections/checkouts of COTS Avionics components from partner vendors. 
  • Conduct test campaigns for the Design Verification Testing, Qualification, Acceptance phases. 
  • Conduct environmental test campaigns. 
  • Perform Avionics testing at the system level during vehicle integration and pre-ship checkouts. 
  • Support avionics production. 
  • Prepare test reports. 
  • Provide test results to other team members in concise and organized fashion. 
  • Initiate of non-conformance notices in case of anomalies. 
  • Partner with manufacturing and integration engineers to develop work instructions and installation procedures for integrating and testing Avionics hardware. 
  • Work closely with and consistently provide feedback to responsible design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and test lab teams to drive design or infrastructure improvements to increase product reliability and yield. 


 Necessary Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline. 
  • 3+ years of experience with avionics design, analysis, and/or testing. 
  • 3+ years of experience with Avionics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes. 
  • 2+ years of experience with design and development of EGSE. 
  • 2+ years of experience in a hardware and/or software testing environment. 
  • 1+ years of experience in any of the following languages: Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, Visual Basic, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW. 
  • Work independently, in a structured and results-oriented manner to achieve goals on time and to coordinate work processes efficiently. 
  • Strong communication skills to work with contacts at all levels. 

 

Desired Requirements

  • Experience with avionics hardware including flight computers, sensors, batteries, PCDUs, antennas, transmitters, receivers, sensors, actuators, and PCBAs. 
  • Experience developing object-oriented software and automated test software 
  • Experience with environmental testing such as thermal, vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum 
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyse and improve test coverage 
  • Experience analysing circuits and developing functional test plans 
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards. 
  • Proven track record solving complex problems with minimal supervision and on a tight schedule 
  • Experience in working in clean room and EPA (Electrostatic Protection Area) environments. 
  • Previous experience in Launch Vehicles projects.
