Mission

As a Supplier Quality Engineer your mission will be to oversee and improve the quality performance of our suppliers. In this role, you will be responsible for auditing, evaluating, and supporting suppliers to ensure compliance with PLD Space’s quality standards and aerospace regulations. You will serve as the primary point of contact for supplier-related quality issues, escalate non-conformances, manage deviations (RFW/RFD), and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with internal teams and suppliers, you will play a key role in enhancing product quality, process reliability, and supplier performance across the supply chain.

 

Responsibilities

·        Supervise and follow up quality processes linked to suppliers of parts and processes.

·        Contribute to the selection and evaluation of suppliers, ensuring they meet PLD Product Assurance Requirements.

·        Ensure that suppliers adhere to relevant quality standards, regulations, and company requirements.

·        Perform quality audits to suppliers to verify they meet the required standards and specifications.

·        Escalate suppliers’ non-conformances to the NCM Engineers for their internal or joint treatment.

·        Escalate supplier-related non-conformances detected at PLD Space facilities to suppliers’ quality teams.

·        Collaborate with the NCM Engineer during the treatment of supplier non-conformances.

·        Manage suppliers’ RFW & RFDs.

·        Be the focal point for suppliers for incidence resolution and quality assurance

·        Follow up the implementation of corrective actions at supplier facilities derived from non-conformance management, reporting internally to the NCM Engineer.

·        Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of suppliers’ processes and QMS.

·        Ensure clear communication of quality requirements and an agile and collaborative environment for improvement of products and processes between suppliers and PLD Space teams.

·        Prepare reports on supplier performance, quality issues and corrective actions for internal and external stakeholders.

 

Necessary Requirements

·        Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, with preference in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

·        Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.

·        Minimum of 2 years in supplier quality assurance, preferably in the aerospace industry.

·        Strong understanding of quality management principles, manufacturing processes, quality control techniques, and product assurance processes.

·        Experience in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

·        Hands-on-the-job, autonomy, communication and reporting skills, ability to work in multidisciplinary environments.

·        Experience with quality management software tools and systems.

·        Ability to build relationships with suppliers and work effectively in a team environment.

 

Desired Requirements

·        Experience in product assurance or quality management within the aerospace industry and with ECSS standards:

o   ECSS-Q-ST-10C (Space Product Assurance)

o   ECSS-Q-ST-10-09 (Nonconformance Control System)

o   ECSS-Q-ST-20 (Quality Assurance)

·        Experience in working under a Quality Management System based in ISO 9100.

·        Knowledge of launch vehicle or spacecraft manufacturing and testing processes.

·        Experience with suppliers' management and quality control of external deliverables.
