Description
As a Test Benches Development Manager, your mission is to lead and oversee the development, implementation, and management of test benches for PLD Space. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of test benches, enabling the testing and validation of various products and systems. Your role will contribute to the overall quality assurance and product development processes.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the design, development, and implementation of test benches mainly for propulsion ( engines and turbopumps) and structures testing and validation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, to gather requirements and provide technical expertise in the development of test benches.
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for test bench development, ensuring consistency and adherence to industry best practices.
Manage the budget, resources, and timelines for test bench projects, ensuring successful completion within specified parameters.
Oversee the troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to test benches, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity.
Conduct regular audits and inspections of test bench functionality and performance to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in test bench development and recommend enhancements or upgrades to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for the procurement of necessary equipment, components, and services related to test bench development.
Document all test bench development activities, including designs, procedures, maintenance logs, and incident reports.
Generate documentation, including user guides, guidelines and user manuals for internal customers use.
Generate documentation for formal program development reviews.
Generate documentation for pad evolution, components obsolescence and maintenance guidelines as well as component´s performance evaluation.
Provide high-level and low-level feedback for MIURA 5 program development planning.
Required Knowledge
Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s degree or demonstrable relevant experience in lieu thereof. Advanced degree preferred.
> 10 years of relevant technical experience.
Demonstrated experience in design industrial machinery, hydraulics or fluid and gas lines such as water, liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, kerosene, nitrogen, or helium.
Strong understanding of test bench development principles and methodologies.
Knowledge in selection and application of design criteria and rules, materials, strengths, and other mechanical properties, according to the loading conditions, working environment, etc.
High degree of CAD competence and PDM tools.
Preferred software: Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Knowledge of safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards applicable to launchpad operations.
Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation strategies in high-stakes environments.
Understanding of networking concepts and experience with network infrastructure design and implementation.
Familiarity with automation and control systems employed in test operations.
Proficiency in software tools and languages commonly used in test bench development (e.g., LabVIEW, C++, etc.).
Knowledge in industrial communication buses, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), sensors, actuators, and other devices.
