[P04] Aerothermodynamics Engineer

Description
Predicting aerothermal environments, in ascent and reentry phase, while providing design solutions for MIURA 1 and MIURA 5 launch vehicles protection materials.
Responsibilities
Design activities for vehicle thermal protections system jointly with other engineering disciplines.
Analyze proposed configurations to predict resultant unit temperature predictions and qualification environments.
Provide support in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures.
Building Computational Fluid Dynamic models for thermal loads predictions (including creating geometries, meshing, running simulations, validating, and post processing output information).
Analyze launch vehicles external Aerodynamics and optimize aero-shapes from a Thermal and heat transfer perspective.
Contribute performing heat transfer and associated aerothermodynamics analysis on various mission phases, including atmospheric reentry scenarios.
Required Knowledge
BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of industry experience.
Knowledge and experience with commercial CFD software, such as ANSYS.
Knowledge and experience with CAD software, preferred Siemens NX.
Knowledge and experience with FEM.
Knowledge and experience with spacecraft aerothermodynamic simulations.
Knowledge and experience with reentry aerothermodynamics analysis and simulations.
Knowledge and experience with coupled fluid structure thermal interaction calculations.
Knowledge and experience with combustion, phase change and species transport modelling.
Knowledge of Thermal Modelling and Simulation tools.
Proficiency with programming languages, such as Matlab.
Knowledge of CFD best practices and troubleshooting.

Experience with Wind Tunnel Testing is a plus.
Experience in acoustics and aeroelasticity
Experience with Unsteady Simulations, URANS, LES, DNS.
Experience in nodal thermal model.
Experience with reactive flows, injection, and atomization processes is a plus.
Familiarity with thermal / thermal vacuum testing is a plus.
